About this tool
Exact age is the difference between two dates using real calendar, returning complete years, complete months and remaining days. This avoids “days/30” approximations and improves interpretation.
Months do not always have the same number of days, and years can have 365 or 366 days. Therefore, an account based only on days can “slip” depending on the period and calendar.
Practical example: birth on 01/01/2000 and reference date on 04/01/2026 results in 26 years, 3 months and 0 days. If you change the reference date, the age changes just like on a calendar.
In everyday life, exact age is used in registrations, school enrollment, contracts, selection processes and administrative contexts where the date needs to be precise.
In some contexts, specific rules may define age “in years” differently (e.g., minimum age at birthday vs. by a cutoff date). Use the reference date to simulate these rules clearly.
How to use this tool
- Enter your date of birth.
- Optional: select a reference date (or use the “n days ago” shortcut).
- See full age and details (days, weeks and upcoming milestones).
- Activate “Professional use” for a leaner view.
FAQ
Why don't months and years just have “days/30”?
Because months and years have a variable number of days. The calculation uses real calendar.
Can I calculate age at a past or future date?
Yes. Just choose the reference date.
What is the reference date?
It is the date on which you want to know your age. If it is empty, the tool uses it today.
What is professional mode?
A more direct version, focused on exact age (years, months and days), for use in documents and administrative contexts.
Does the result change with time zone?
For dates (without time), normally not. But local time/zone adjustments can influence if you compare times or use dates in different systems.
How to deal with dates like 02/29?
In non-leap years, some rules consider 02/28 or 03/01. The tool follows calendar rules to maintain consistency.
Technical notes
